Administrators and other users with the capability to configure public unit rules can utilize the Compatible Unit Rule Editor to create and modify unit rules.

This dialog box can also be accessed in read-only mode by regular users who wish to view existing compatible unit rules and their associated rule attributes. To obtain selective views of the data, users can filter the unit rules using several combinations of filtering criteria. The filtering capabilities of the Compatible Unit Rule Editor are described in the online help system as well as in the User Manual.

Authorized users can perform the following configuration tasks with the Compatible Unit Rule Editor:

• Create a new unit rule for a feature type
• Edit an existing unit rule (by changing its associated unit, class code, name)
• Delete an existing unit rule
• Add a new rule attribute to an existing unit rule
• Delete a rule attribute of an existing unit rule

The Compatible Unit Rule Editor also provides access to the Class Code Editor, which is used for created and editing class codes (see “Using the Class Code Editor”).

The Compatible Unit Rule Editor cannot be used to create, modify, or delete compatible units themselves.
